Open Call for 13th Berlin Biennale Curators Workshop

July 8, 2025

Politics have always shaped artistic practice. But what does this relationship look like now? Taking place from September 1st to September 7th, 2025, the 13th Berlin Biennale’s curators workshop will approach this question through this edition’s theme of ‘Fugitive Acts: Art and Politics.’

Marking its 10th iteration, the workshop offers 15 participants the opportunity to explore the role of politics in contemporary exhibition making to understand not only how an exhibition may be considered politically; but how curatorial practice can address the exhibition format as a political form itself. Through engagement with organizers, curators and artists, the program aims to facilitate long term professional relationships and local/international connections.

The workshop will be conducted in English and some initial experience in presenting contemporary art (e.g. exhibition curation, art writing, organizing symposia etc.) is expected. The program covers travel, accommodation, visa and per diem costs, as well as access to all workshop and exhibition venues. Successful applicants will be contacted by the end of July with logistical details as well as additional information about the workshop.
